Even though this town is known by its more popular name of Sin City, there is a lot more to do in Las Vegas than just drink and gamble.

Known as one of the entertainment capitals of the world, Las Vegas is home to many fun and exciting attractions at affordable prices. Especially since it is only about an hour and a half away from St. George and Dixie State College, students have the perfect opportunity to take advantage everything this town has to offer. What happens in Vegas doesn't have to stay in Vegas, especially since you will want to blab to all your friends and family about the fun you just had.

Take a Tour

If you have always wanted the chance to see some of the iconic landmarks Las Vegas has to offer, The Show Bus of Star is the perfect place to be. Cruising down the strip in a double decker bus, a celebrity impersonator (the rotating cast has a huge variety, including favorites like Cher, Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, Elvis and John Lennon) takes you all around town.

Plus with prices starting at only $40, it won't break the bank. Another perk is you don't have to go during the day and sit in the heat. Try the tour at night for a thrill while viewing all the lights the city is known for. To book your tour, call (866) 80-SHOWS.

Meet Someone Famous

Have you ever wished you could finally get your picture taken with Britney Spears? Or pose next to your favorite crushes like Justin Timberlake and Johnny Depp? What about icons like Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson?

Even though your first instinct might be wondering how that is possible (Monroe has been dead for decades!) you can still have the fun photo op you have been dreaming of. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum even offers student discounts—you can get your ticket for less than $20. Visit http://www.madametussauds.com/LasVegas/BuyTickets/ to order.

Be a Kid for the Day

Let your inner child come out and play. Despite its sometimes seedy image, Vegas offers a lot of family-and child-friendly activities. The Adventuredome at Circus Circus has fun rides, cheap eats and even a video arcade all indoors. The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel offers a gigantic 117,000-gallon saltwater aquarium full of different types of aquatic life and is free to enjoy.

And who doesn't love candy? The M&M's World is like paradise for chocolate lovers. You can choose from an assortment of 22 different colors of the popular candy and also look at merchandise with the cute candy-turned-people logos.

Laugh your Butt Off

If you love to laugh, this is the city for you. Las Vegas is known for having a great sense of humor with some of the world's most famous comedians traveling through and doing shows on a regular basis, like Kathy Griffin, Daniel Tosh or even Chelsea Handler.

In fact, Vegas is such a fan favorite that some comedians have taken up residency there in order to have continuous shows. Louie Anderson, Rita Rudner and Carrot Top have weekly shows offered through different casinos and venues. For more information, type your favorite comedian's name and search for shows in Las Vegas on www.ticketmaster.com. There are even comedy clubs that you can visit if you don't care about having an already famous jokester. Who knows, maybe you can discover the next Dane Cook!

See a Show

What Vegas is known for is its shows, and it hosts a large variety of different types of performances. There are magic shows like Penn & Teller or Criss Angel, performing arts like Cirque Du Soleil and The Blue Man Group, or another favorite: concerts.

Famous folks travel in and out constantly, like Kelly Clarkson's upcoming Stronger Tour, which will be at the Pearl Concert Theater (located inside The Palms) or Vegas mainstays like Celine Dion or Donny & Marie. For ticket information, once again visit www.ticketmaster.com.
